World Food Aid took over a vacant heritage shop unit on a conservation-area high street. The previous tenant had left the building with a boarded-up green timber shopfront in poor structural condition — and the unit included an original pro
Strip out the failed boarded shopfront, structurally repair the original projecting bay window, and install a new timber shopfront in a contemporary blue paint finish that integrates with World Food Aid's brand identity while remaining acceptable under the building's conservation status.
We worked with the local conservation officer to agree the specification before any work began. The bay window was retained and structurally reinforced, with the original mouldings carefully cleaned and any rotten elements scarfed-in with matching profiled timber. The new shopfront framework was manufactured offsite from engineered timber with a factory micro-porous paint finish in the agreed RAL colour. The branded blue 'World Food Aid' fascia banner was installed after the shopfront, sized to fit within the original architectural opening without obscuring the bay window above.

"What we needed was someone who understood heritage requirements and modern retail at the same time. S&K delivered both — the bay window looks as good as it must have done a century ago."
