Our process

From survey to installation in 4 steps

01

Architectural consultation

We visit your home, discuss your vision, and produce concept sketches and CAD plans. For complex projects we can introduce you to our partner architects.

02

Engineering & planning

Structural glass extensions require specialist structural calculations and (usually) planning permission. We handle both — typical timeline 8-12 weeks from concept to consent.

03

Manufacture

Glass panels are toughened and laminated to structural specifications (often 24-32mm thick). Lead times 6-8 weeks. Steel structure (if exposed) manufactured in parallel.

04

Construction

Foundations, glass installation, weatherproofing and internal finishes. Typical 3m × 4m glass box extension takes 8-12 weeks on site.

FAQs

Glass Extensions questions, answered

Frameless glass box extensions typically cost £25,000-£60,000 depending on size and complexity. Cost per square metre is roughly double a conventional brick extension.
We specify solar-control glass that reflects 60-70% of solar heat, often combined with electrochromic or external venetian blinds. Combined with cross-ventilation through bifold or sliding doors, modern glass extensions are comfortable year-round.
Larger glass extensions usually need planning permission, but smaller projects may qualify as permitted development. We assess each project at the survey stage.
Yes — all structural glass is toughened and laminated to BS EN 14449 standards, with redundant load paths so a single pane failure doesn't compromise the structure.
Yes — we usually recommend underfloor heating in glass extensions to balance the cool surfaces. Wet UFH or electric mats both work well under tile, polished concrete or engineered wood.
