Birmingham Airport noise insulation grants

Birmingham Airport operates a Sound Insulation Scheme covering properties within the 63dB(A) noise contour. The current scheme of works is finished - every eligible property has been insulated. Contours are reviewed every two years. If contours expand, more properties may become eligible and the scheme would reopen. For now, if you're new to a property previously insulated under the scheme, contact sustainability@birminghamairport.co.uk to check.

● Scheme closed
Maximum grant Previously insulated where eligible; scheme under review

How S&K Glazing can help with the Birmingham Airport scheme

S&K Glazing is not an officially appointed installer for the Birmingham Airport Sound Insulation Scheme — that scheme uses its own appointed installers. Our role is to help you in three ways: (1) free eligibility check — tell us your postcode and we'll confirm whether you fall inside the scheme boundary; (2) guidance on how to apply — we explain the application process, what documents you need, and what to expect; (3) private installation for work the scheme doesn't fund — properties outside the boundary, premium acoustic upgrades (Rw 48-52dB triple glazing) beyond the standard spec, non-habitable rooms the scheme excludes, and commercial premises. If you're eligible for funded works, we'll point you to the official route. If you're not — or you want better than the scheme provides — we're ready to quote.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Birmingham Airport noise insulation scheme still running?

The current works programme is complete - every eligible property has been insulated. Birmingham Airport reviews the noise contours every two years; if the boundary expands, the scheme could reopen. For now (May 2026), the scheme is not accepting new applications.

My house is under the flight path but didn't qualify. Can I still get acoustic glazing?

Yes - privately, via S&K Glazing. We're based 8 miles from BHX and install acoustic glazing across Solihull, Castle Bromwich, Marston Green, and Bickenhill daily.

How do I check if my BHX-area property was previously insulated?

Email sustainability@birminghamairport.co.uk with your property address. They keep records of scheme works.

Will the Birmingham scheme reopen?

Possibly - contours are reviewed every two years. If aircraft operations change and the 63dB(A) contour expands, additional properties could become eligible.

What's the alternative if the scheme is closed?

Private acoustic glazing. We provide full survey, specification, and installation for Birmingham Airport flight-path properties at standard market rates. Typical investment: £450-£900 per window for acoustic double glazing.
