Glasgow Airport noise insulation grants

Glasgow Airport's Noise Insulation Scheme uses a more generous 60dB LAeq threshold (lower than UK Government's 63dB recommendation), which means more households benefit. Maximum grant is £5,000 inclusive of VAT per eligible property. Contours are updated annually using the previous summer's flight data.

How S&K Glazing can help with the Glasgow Airport scheme

S&K Glazing is not an officially appointed installer for the Glasgow Airport Noise Insulation Scheme — that scheme uses its own appointed installers. Our role is to help you in three ways: (1) free eligibility check — tell us your postcode and we'll confirm whether you fall inside the scheme boundary; (2) guidance on how to apply — we explain the application process, what documents you need, and what to expect; (3) private installation for work the scheme doesn't fund — properties outside the boundary, premium acoustic upgrades (Rw 48-52dB triple glazing) beyond the standard spec, non-habitable rooms the scheme excludes, and commercial premises. If you're eligible for funded works, we'll point you to the official route. If you're not — or you want better than the scheme provides — we're ready to quote.

Frequently asked questions

How much can I claim under the Glasgow Airport scheme?

Up to £5,000 inclusive of VAT per eligible property. If insulation works cost more, the excess is your responsibility.

Why does Glasgow use 60dB when other airports use 63dB?

Glasgow Airport chose to go further than the UK Government's 63dB LAeq recommendation. This expands the contour area and means more households qualify.

How often does the eligibility boundary change?

Annually - Glasgow recalculates the contours each year from previous summer flight data. Eligibility may change year-on-year.

What if my property was built after February 2023?

Post-Feb 2023 properties are excluded. The assumption is that newer planning permissions already accounted for noise insulation.

Can I appeal if my application isn't accepted?

The Glasgow Airport Consultative Committee forms an independent panel to verify applications. Refusals can be reviewed but the decision rests with the panel.
